Key Considerations for Rainwater Harvesting Module Installation
Rainwater harvesting modules are a core component of sponge city projects, residential developments, and municipal stormwater detention systems. The quality of installation directly affects the system's performance in rainwater collection, storage, filtration, and its long-term service life. To ensure a reliable and durable installation while preventing issues such as leakage, settlement, and water accumulation, every stage of construction must strictly follow industry standards and best practices.
1. Site Preparation
Proper preparation lays the foundation for a successful installation. Before construction begins, carefully review the design drawings to confirm the installation area, burial depth, slope, and pipeline layout. Clear the site of weeds, stones, mud, and other debris, then level and compact the subgrade. If the soil has poor bearing capacity, replace and compact it to create a stable and uniform foundation, preventing future settlement or deformation of the modules.

2. Module Installation

The modules should be assembled in the specified sequence and aligned neatly. All locking clips and connectors must be fully secured to create a stable structural system with uniform joints and no looseness or misalignment. The installation slope should also be carefully controlled according to the drainage design to ensure efficient rainwater flow and prevent localized water accumulation.
3. Backfilling and Protection
Backfilling should only begin after the assembled modules have passed inspection. Use screened fine soil for backfilling, avoiding large rocks or hard materials that could damage the structure. Backfill should be placed in uniform layers and lightly compacted to distribute pressure evenly and protect the modules from deformation.
During construction, protect the completed installation by preventing heavy machinery from traveling directly over the module area. After the project is completed, clean the site thoroughly, inspect the system for sealing integrity and surface levelness, and conduct a water test to verify that there are no leaks or drainage issues.
4. Safety Requirements
Construction should always comply with applicable safety standards. Installation should not be carried out during rainy weather or when the ground is frozen, as these conditions can weaken the foundation and cause deformation of the modules.
